Joel has been trying to show me why the Chief's are worthy of my heart, affection, and commitment for a year now - and I realized after watching the video that the Chiefs have started to grow on me. Videos that make the different teammates more like real people, really do make me like the team more, making me realize that this is fairly strategic. I feel like the media does this all the time, seeking to make celebrities seem like your average Joe whom you could truly be friends with. It makes it all seem smaller and more personal, like I am a close friend of Eric Berry who knows about his bizarre horse phobia. Don't get me wrong, I love videos like this. But this was the first time I had to think about why. Ask anyone who their favorite celebrity is and it is no doubt someone that they feel like they could "just hang out with." Afterall, this is why celebrities appear on talk shows like Jimmy Kimmel or Jimmy Fallon. They tell stories about their every day lives and we gush because they are just like us. Again, I love these shows and I do this all the time (especially with John Krasinski) but why do we care so much?
